Romford Town started the defence of its Essex League title in commanding fashion at the weekend

Out of the 49 events contested it won 34 of them and came 2nd in a further eleven

The 15-year-old girls team of Stevie Coker, Jessica Coles, Kelsey Richards and Nicole Raymond won their respective freestyle and medley relays, whilst Kelsey, Jessica and Nicole won the 100 metres butterfly, breastroke and freestyle events.

The boy’s team of Lewis Kidd, Jake Harrison, Chris Stamp and Tom Toolis replicated the achievements of the girls in winning both their relays, whilst Jake Harrison (Breastroke) Chris Stamp (Butterfly) and Tom Toolis (Freestyle) won their individual races.

It was a similar chain of results for the ladies open team, where Georgia Hunton Clark (Backstroke), Natalie Ward (Butterfly) and Kira Fawke (Freestyle) won their events and were joined by Stevie Coker in the medley relay and Nicole Raymond in the freestyle relay to win these too.

In the 13 years girls age group, Bethany Hall (Backstroke) Jodie Momodu (Breastroke) Louise Harrington (Fly) won their events and were joined by Kariena Tubbs as they took the honours in the relays too.

For the 13 year old boys, Thomas Johnson (Back) Thomas Clark (Breast) won their 100 metre individual events and were joined by George Hunter and Alfie Burr as the quartet won the medley and freestyle relays.

Grant Chandler won the mens’ open 100 metres Butterfly and was joined by teammates Tom Ingram, Billy Tubbs and Lewis Kidd to win the medley relay; whilst Chris Stamp replaced Lewis to help the team win the freestyle team event.

There was success too in the youngest, 11 years age group, as James Kidd, William Harding, Oliver Applebee and nine year, Frank McGuirk won both their medley and freestyle relays. James won the 50 metres backstroke, whilst Oliver won his 50 metres individual breastroke race and William Harding gained a win in the 50 metres freestyle.

Gaining maximum points for the girl’s 11 year olds was Victoria Christmas who won the 50 metres Butterfly and was joined by Rosie Webber, Brock Whiston and Sophie Thompson as they came 2nd in both their medley and freestyle relays.

The final event of the evening saw Romford seal its dominance as the squadron relay of, Sophie Thompson, William Harding, Jodie Momodu, Thomas Clark, Kelsey Richards, Tom Toolis, Natalie Ward and Billy Tubbs
