28th June 2009 - Junior Swimming League - London Final
Blackshots Pool

A fine win in the opening race for Victoria Christmas, Amy Gore, Brock Whiston and Emma Aston in the Girls 12 year old Medley Relay raised hopes that Town might be able to emulate last season’s Top Three placing.

However, Town had to wait until events 27 and 28 before 10 year olds Sophie Ward and Kieran Gore stormed to victories in their 50m Butterfly swims. Kieran also won the 50m Freestyle soon after, with Sophie narrowly beaten into second in the Girls race. Kieran nearly repeated his triple success of the last round, but had to settle for second place in the 11 year old Boys 50m Breaststroke.

Town’s only other win was recorded by Victoria Christmas with an impressive 1st place in the Girls 12 years 50 metres Backstroke. Amy Gore was a close runner up in both the Freestyle and Breaststroke in this age group.

In the 11 year old girls category Bethany Moore did well to pick up second places in the 50m Backstroke and Freestyle events, as did Megan McAuliffe in the Breaststroke.

Our 9 year olds were experiencing their first year of competition at this level and Hannah Binning showed she was up to the challenge with good third place finishes in the Girls 25m Breaststroke and Freestyle. Mitchell Wilson swam well for 3rd place in the Boys 25m Butterfly.

Hannah Binning teamed up with Chloe Thompson, Victoria Bishop and Daisy Nolan-Day for an encouraging 2nd place finish in their Freestyle relay.

Town’s final top three placings came in the two 12 year olds Freestyle Relays where Victoria Christmas, Amy Gore, Brock Whiston and Emma Aston’s third place was matched by the Boys quartet of James Kidd, Oliver Applebee, Charlie Davis and Sam Bishop.
