Saturday 14th January - Essex League Division 1 - Waltham Forest

Town's swimmers did their best to raise the temperature at a freezing cold Waltham Forest Pool and despite several absentees continued their quest towards a 12th successive Essex League Title with another emphatic performance.

The 11 years and under girls got the show on the road with a commanding win from Rebecca Cribb, Georgia Milton, Jess Ayling (10) and 9 year old Emily Milton in the Freestyle Relay. Georgia Milton won the 50m Butterfly and 50m Freestyle events, Rebecca Cribb won the 50m Backstroke and Jess Ayling (10) was second in the 50m Breaststroke. Emily Milton again joined the trio in the Medley Relay which was also won convincingly.

A very young 11 years and under boys team of Dan Weston, Joseph Lomas (10), Billy Harrison (10) and James Cooper (9) did well to take second place in their Freestyle relay. A position that was repeated in the Medley where Jacob Smith replaced Dan Weston. Good second place swims were also achieved by Billy Harrison and James Cooper in the 50m Breaststroke and Butterfly respectively. Jacob Smith was 3rd in the 50m Freestyle respectively.

The Open Ladies team again scored highly with 14 year olds Victoria Christmas and Amy Harris joining Rosie Webber and Brock Whiston for a good win in their Medley relay, before taking second place in their Freestyle relay. There were good wins for Christmas and Whiston in the 100m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke respectively with Webber second in the 100m Butterfly. 14 year old Jodi Whitehead won the 100m Backstroke.

Jake Harrison won the men’s open 100m Freestyle and was second in the 100m Breaststroke, whilst George Foley was second in the 100m Butterfly. Harry Coker (15) and Josh Rogers joined the pair for the relays with second place being achieved in both.

In the 13 years and under age group Sophie Ward joined 12 year olds Hannah Binning, Holly Hildrew, Erin Corney in winning their Freestyle relays. before Stephanie Tomlinson replaced Ward as the Medley was also won. Hildrew also won the individual 100m Breaststroke and Butterfly events. Binning was second in the 100m Backstroke and Corney was 3rd in the 100 metres Freestyle.

For the boys 13 years and under Patrick Rourke won the individual 100m Backstroke and claimed 3rd place in the 100m Butterfly. Jack Ayling and Calum Connelly also picked up useful third places in the Breaststroke and Freestyle respectively. 11 year old Jacob Smith joined the trio as a good second place was earned in the Freestyle Relay, whilst Billy Harrison (10) helped the 13 year olds gain 3rd place in their Medley Relay

13 year olds Jodi Whitehead. Sophie Ward, Bethany Moore and Stephanie Tomlinson represented Town in the Girls 15 years and under age group. The quartet earned first place in the Medley relay and second in the Freestyle with Amy Harris replacing Tomlinson. Moore also claimed victory in the individual 100 metres Backstroke, whilst Harris and Tomlinson were second in the Breaststroke and Freestyle respectively.

The were wins for Harry Coker in the Backstroke and Charles Sturley in the Butterfly in the Boys 15 and under category. Luke Sheridan and Sam Allsop helped the pair to first place in the Freestyle Relay, before 3rd place was gained in the Freestyle Relay with Connelly replacing Coker.
