Saturday 13th June - Essex Mini League - Dagenham
Club debutants Charlote Chuck, Georgia Milton, Henry Wenham and Billy Wilson helped Town to a second successive mini league victory. Town's task was made easier with two clubs failing to turn up, but every point won was important in maintaining a strong challenge to retain our league title.
Town managed to win 23 of the night's 48 events with the first success coming in the Boys 9 year old Breaststroke Relay with our quartet of Mitchell Wilson, Sam Ellis, Liam Fearon and Billly Wilson taking maximum points.
Chloe Thompson(9) picked up our first individual win of the night with a much improved time in the Girls 33m Backstroke in the 10 and under age group before Sam Ellis underlined his recent improvement in training with a time fault in the boy's race.
Shara Islam won the Girls 13 and under 100m Freestyle event, whilst Sam Bishop was another 'time-faulter' as he showed he is now well on the mend after his health and injury problems.
14 year old Hannah Coles claimed a good victory in the Girls Open 66m Butterfly as did Arabella Woolf(10) in the 11 and under Breaststroke. There was a big surprise in the Boys 10 and under Breastroke when Ben Davis produced a massive improvement to earn himself a time-fault. Another swimmer improving 'too fast' was 9 year old Victoria Bishop with another time fault in the Girls 10 and under Freestyle.
There was a pair of wins for 10 year olds Henry Wenham and Maddie Webber in the 11 and under Freestyle events.
David Ward won a very tight race in the Boys Open 66m Backstroke and there was another impressive win for Laura Brooks in the 13 and under 66m Breaststroke.
At the halfway point Town were trailing Basildon by 4 points, but as now appears to be the norm, an impressive set of Fly and Freestyle swims saw Town open up a 22 point lead by Event 40. Victoria Bishop, Maddie Webber, Chloe Thompson, Courtney Wilson, Alex Rose and Hannah Coles joined forces for a win in the Girls Squadron Butterfly Relay and the Boys made it a double as Mitchell Wilson, Oliver Coles, Sam Hollington, Charlie Davis, Andrew Ward and Billy Bass won a close race.
The Girls won a very tight 11 and under Freestyle relay as Maddie Webber, Lois Loucaides, Hannah Binning and Chloe Thompson edged home.
Courtney Wilson is starting to put more effort into her training and was rewarded with a good win in the Girls 13 and under Backstroke. Michael Fearon looked to have recorded a massive win in the Boys Open Freestyle, but just beat the time limit.
Chloe Thompson, Daisy Nolan-Day, Georgia Milton and Hannah Binning were clear winners in the 9 year old Girls Freestyle Relay, as were Sam Ellis, Billy Wilson, Liam Fearon and Mitchell Wilson for the Boys.
Oliver Coles continues to improve and had a good win in the the Boys 10 years and under 33m Fly event. There was an excellent win double in the 11 and under Butterfly swims from Chloe Thompson (9) and Zac Coleman (10).
The Squadron Breaststroke Relays brought a win for Town’s Boys with Sam Ellis, Henry Wenham, Sam Coker, Tom Benson, David Ward and Andrew Ward winning a hard fought race.
Another win double was achieved in the Girls 13 and under 66m Butterfly, with Shara Islam and Sam Bishop both in good form. Isabel Allsop achieved our final time-fault in the Open Girls 66m Breaststroke.
Town were now in a commanding position and further wins in the Girls Freestyle Relays from Laura Brooks, Courtney Wilson, Shara Islam and Charlotte Chuck (13 and under) and Maddie Webber, Arabella Woolf, Lois Loucaides and Daisy Nolan-Day (10 and under) put the seal on another fine team effort.
Final Result:
- Romford Town 179
- Basildon 156
- Becontree 152
Chelmsford and Harwich did not turn up
