Sunday 13th December - BWF Winter Open Meet - Waltham Forest Tarck and Pool

An inexperienced Town team braved the wintry conditions both outside and inside the pool!

Town swimmers dominated the 11 and under age group, but found the going tough in the older age groups.

The temperature in the pool meant that personal best times were at a premium, but Sophie Ward raised Town spirits by winning the Girls 100m and 200m Butterfly and was placed second in the 200m Freestyle. Jodi Whitehead had a win in the 200m Breaststroke and was 2nd in the 100m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke and 3rd in the 100m Individual Medley.

Joshua Burcombe was successful in the Boys 11 and under age group winning the 200m Freestyle and placing 2nd the 100m Breaststroke, 100m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle.

Tom Benson, Charlotte Chuck, Sam Coker and Luke Sheridan swam well, but just missed out on medals.

9 year olds David Brooks, Harry Taylor and Jack Rice (competing in his first gala) and 10 year old Chloe Thompson all achieved Essex County Qualifying Times.

Elsewhere, there were lots of lessons learnt and experience gained for Town's youngsters who will be looking for further development in 2010.
