14th/15th March - Waltham Forest Secondary Essex Age Group Development Meet
Held for swimmers that haven’t made Essex County qualifying times this annual swim meet acts as a great introduction to competitive swimming for those just starting out and for others the opportunity to prove themselves with a view to aspiring to gain county times next season.
There were examples of emerging talent throughout the weekend and none more so than in the nine year age group:
Hannah Binning collected a trio of medals as she won the girls nine years 100 metres Medley and gained two bronze medals in gaining 3rd in both the 200 metres Freestyle and Backstroke events. Ella Davis picked up a top 6 position in the 200 Backstroke in gaining 5th spot.
For the nine years old boys, Mitchell Wilson gained 1st place in the 200 metres Breaststroke was 3rd in the 100 metres Medley and 4th in the 200 metres Freestyle. Aiden Jackson gained 6th place in the 100 metres Medley.
In the boy’s ten years age group, Oliver Coles swam well to gain 4th place in the 200 metres Backstroke and 5th place in the 100 metres Medley. Team mate Zachary Coleman did well to take 3rd place in the 200 metres Backstroke.
12 year old Emma Aston swam to a personal best time in the 100 metres Breaststroke as she came 3rd, whilst Charlie Davis was 6th in the 12 year old boys Breaststroke event.
In the girls 13 years age group, Romford were well represented:
Hannah Coles swam to a very good personal best time to gain 2nd place in the 100 metres Butterfly was 5th in the 100 metres Breaststroke and 6th in the 100 metres Backstroke and Freestyle events.
13-year-old Shara Islam took a splendid 2nd place in the 100 metres Breaststroke whilst Courtney Wilson was just behind Hannah in 6th place.
Joshua Rogers ensured there were medals gained in the boy’s 13 years category as he swam well to take 3rd place in the 100 metres Medley and 4th in the 100 metres Backstroke.
16-year-old David Ward was rewarded for his recent hard work gaining a number of medals and personal best times. He was 1st in the 100 metres Breaststroke, 2nd in the 100 metres Butterfly, Medley, Freestyle and 4th in the 100 metres Backstroke.Sam Whitehead swam personal best times as he took 1st place in the both the 100 metres Butterfly and Medley events.
Well done to all those that competed and through hard work lets try to gain County times next season.
