Friday 16th to Sunday 18th April - British International Disability Championships
Ponds Forge, Sheffield.

Amy Marren had a busy and successful weekend at the British International Disability Championships in Sheffield

This was a Long Course meet with competitors coming from as far afield as New Zealand, Korea, Nova Scotia, Croatia and Brazil in search of their qualifying times for the World Championships in August.

There was a strong representation from many paralympics and many from TeamGB, including Dave Roberts, Sacha Kindred, Sam Hynd and Eliie Simmonds. Amy was the youngest competitor to attend the meet.

Amy had her International Paralympic Classification and is now regarded as an S9 swimmer. This is very competative and more challenging for Amy. She competed in six events over the three day period and made five finals, setting new long course PBs in every event:

  • 400m Freestyle Finalist - new PB time 5.25.51
  • 100m Breaststroke Finalist - new PB time 1.45.20
  • 50m Freestyle new PB time 34.04
  • 100m Backstroke Finalist - new PB time 1.26.39
  • 100m Freestyle Finalist - new PB time 1.13.91
  • 200m Individual Medley Finalist - new PB time 3.05.92

Amy has realised her potential and is aiming higher... . .she knows she can do it under the direction of Romford Town and it's great coaches. On a final note she would like to say a huge Thank You to Kevin, her coach, and all her team mates who sent her messages of support over the weekend.
