Master News
Husband and wife Nick and Nicki Murch swam in the Great Thames Swim on Saturday 4th September. Swimming over a one mile distance, both took silver in the mens and womens categories respectively.
They were also part of several RTSC relay teams who took four gold in the 120+ age group at the Barnet Copthal Sprint Meet on Sunday 5th September, the other team members were Juile Sanders, Sally Wood, Martin Fenner, Martin Lane, David Ebanks and David Griggs.

2011 Essex County Championships
Here are the details of next year's County Championships with news about various changes
27th July to 7th August - World Masters Championships - Sweden
RTSC Masters had 3 ladies representing the club at the recent World Champs: Lesley Cook, Kay Hamilton and Kira Neal. Lesley and Kay competed in the Open Water 3k event and came 15th and 9th respectively in their age groups. Kira was our only competitor in the pool and she swum the 100m, 200m and 400m Freestyle, coming 11th, 4th and 8th.
Elena Sheridan - From 'Learn to Swim' to County Senior Record Holder
Elena Sheridan joined RTSC's Learn to Swim Programme at the age of 5, progressing to D Squad when she was 9 years old. Last week, still aged only 14, Elena took on the country's best 14 and 15 year olds at the National Youth Championships in Sheffield.
Despite being one of the youngest swimmers in her category, Elena still managed to win a bronze medal in the 200m Butterfly final and to reach the 400m Individual Medley and 100m Butterfly finals.
Along the way, Elena improved two of her existing Essex Junior records, set a new Breaststroke Junior record and set two new Essex Senior Records:

- Final - 2:16.64 Essex Junior & Senior Record (2000 record)

Elena will be in action again next week at the final Commonwealth Trials/(senior) Nationals in Sunderland. Followed by a trip to Sunderland again for the UK School Games over the first weekend of September.

British Gas ASA National Youth Championships, Sheffield
3rd August to 7th August
Day 1 - 14 year old Elena Sheridan is 10th in the Girls 14/15 years 400m Individual Medley final.
Elena also finishes 2nd in the Girls 14/15 years 200m Butterfly semi-finals.
Day 2 - Elena wins a bronze medal in the Girls 14/15 years 200m Butterfly final and qualifies for the 200m Breaststroke semi-finals.
Day 4 - Elena is 8th in the Girls 14/15 years 100m Butterfly final.
