Welsh/Irish/Scottish/English(WISE) Schools International

14th/15th March 2009 - Swansea

Elena Sheridan swam a little below her best after being unwell the previous evening. Nonetheless, her morning 100m Butterfly time of 1.07.38 helped England's Year 7-9 age group to win their Medley Relay

In her afternoon individual swim, after a slow first 50m of 32.08, Elena started to gain ground on the other England representative but couldn't quite close the gap, finishing second in 1.07.55. It was another 1st/2nd for England who dominated most of the races and comfortably won the overall competition.

Unfortunately, Elena wasn't well enough to attend the after-competition party, but will try to recover in time for the British Championships starting on Monday morning.

Taunton Deane Gala Accomodation

For those of you that have not arranged accomodation for the Taunton Deane Gala in April, Taunton Deane SC have kindly made enquiries about the possibility of clubs staying in Taunton School and they will be happy to try and accomodate us.

Taunton School is a private boarding school which TDSC have a very close association with. The club trains in the school pool every day! It is about a 30 - 40 minute leisurely drive to Millfield School (most of TDSC will be travelling to the meet from Taunton).

The school will be able to provide mostly twin rooms. They will also be happy to provide meals and packed lunches as required. There is a fleet of coaches available to transport you to and back from Millfield, if you decide to travel by train (it will take 3 hours from Romford to Taunton, via Paddington). Taunton School's standard brochure is attached. In the brochure, there is a contact name, Ellie Humprey, who will be happy to discuss this with you. Please feel free to contact her directly.

If you are going down on the Friday, they will endeavour to make some pool time available for us to 'loosen up' either at the school or within walking distance (between 6 - 8 in the evening).
